Skin Regimen for Oily, Acne-Prone Skin

complexion-320x313

I have had various skin issues for the past 7 years; from eczema to acne to excessive oil to super dry skin and everything in between. My skin issues always made me super insecure so this past March I decided that enough was enough and I began researching and trying out different products and home remedies in order to get the flawless skin I desired and it worked!! Since then I have been getting countless compliments about my skin so I wanted to share my skin regimen and a few products I love in hopes to possibly help someone else.

My skin type is oily and I have frequent clogged pores on my nose and chin. Most of the products that I use can be helpful to all skin types, but if you have a specific skin concern leave it in the comments and I can see what I can do to help!

           QUICK TIPS:

  1. GO ORGANIC: Our skin is the most porous organ in our body and a lot of the products that are on the market contain preservatives that with small doses of parabens that have been found in cancer cells as well as formaldehyde- super gross & unhealthy for you if used for long periods of time
  2. VISIT A DERMATOLOGIST: If you have any outstanding skin issues that have lasted longer than a year I highly recommend seeing a dermatologist. Blogs and Pinterest are great tools to find skin help, but nothing beats a licensed professional
  3. BE CONSISTENT: Find a plan and stick to it, keep track of your progress to monitor which products work for you and which ones do not. & no forgetting to wash your face at night!
  4. SAMPLER SUBSCRIPTIONS: Subscription programs like Ipsy and Birchbox are great to find new products that are specific to your skincare needs. A lot of the products below I found through my subscriptions to these programs.

M-13Black African Soap:
I call this my little black bar of magic and it is a pivotal component of my skin regimen. Black soap is great for oily acne prone skin because it prevents excessive oil production and prevents new acne. There are many different brands and types, but I have found that Madina works best for me. This product does not treat acne, but it addresses the components that cause acne like bacteria and oil. My favorite things about this product is that it is super cheap, works fast, and leaves the skin so smooth & bright. I use this stuff on my body as well.

dewAmie Morning Dew Matte-Finish Moisturizer

Another very affordable product that I use every day geared towards people with oily skin. This product is from the UK and is paraben and mineral oil free. Contains 90% natural ingredients

marcelle_claymask_100ml_900x900Marcelle Clay Mask, $15
Clay masks help to control oil production and reduce breakouts. This product is the best clay mask that I have ever tried, it dries quickly and leaves my face fresh, even and glowing. Perfect for sensitive skin because it is hypo-allergenic and gluten free

fileAssetNuxe Gentle Exfoliating Gel with Rose Petals, $26

Exfoliating is a very important part of skincare and should be done 2-3 time a week. I have sensitive skin, so I had a lot of trouble finding exfoliates in the past because they were all too rough for my skin. Nuxe Exfoliating Gel caters to sensitive skin, is hypo-allergenic, paraben free, and contains 91% natural ingredients including rose petals, lychee stones and ground walnut shells.

vasantiVasanti Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator, $34

If you have dull or tired looking skin this product is great for you and gives instant results. It has helped to even out my complexion and to fade dark marks that I have from picking at my pimples. It’s 100% Vegan 100% Paraben-free and not tested on animals.

tweezerman-no-slip-blackhead-tool
I saved the nasty part for the end. Oily skin is prone to clogged pores and the only way to treat clogged pores is to get them unclogged! If you have whiteheads or blackheads, you should invest in an extractor. They can be bought in stores like Walmart, Target, and CVS. Basically it is used to extract all the gunk out of your pores- crucial !

I hope this helps! -Liss
