Cinco de Drinko – 4 Cocktails for Cinco De Mayo



It’s hilarious how we use holidays as an excuse to party and drink and Cinco De Mayo is no different. However, the real celebration of Cinco de Mayo is Mexico’s unlikely victory over the French army in Puebla, Mexico. (Not Mexican Independence Day). 

Now that you’ve had your brief history lesson, let’s get on to the drinks!!

Cinco De Drinko – Best Cocktails for Cinco De Mayo

The four recipes below are under 8 minutes and great starter drinks for the celebration. If you’re having friends over this will definitely put the “fiesta” feeling in the atmosphere.

1. Poloma (5 mins)

A delicious, light Mexico favorite! If you’re looking to start drinking early this is definitely a refreshing taste.


  • Ice
  • 1 1/2 ounces reposado tequila
  • 1/2 of fresh lime squeezed juice
  • 1/4 cup of grapefruit juice

Pour ingredients over ice in highball glass and enjoy!

2. Chimayó (3 mins)

Named after Chimayó, New Mexico, it still hold the title for the city’s favorite drink.


  • 1 1/2 ounces tequila
  • 1 ounce unfiltered apple cider
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 ounce creme de cassis
  • Apple slices for garnish
  • Ice

Pour all the ingredients in highball glass with ice. Stir well and garnish with apples.

3. Tequila Sunrise (5 mins)

For all you day-drinkers out there, this drink will surely get your Fiesta started!


  • 3 ounces orange juice
  • 1 1/2 ounce tequila
  • 1/2 ounce grenadine syrup
  • Ice

Pour tequila and orange juice over ice. Add grenadine last, which will sink to the bottom. No stirring, just drinking!

4. Toronha (6 mins)

Looking for something frozen? This one is fruity and yummy.


  • 2 ounces tequila Tezón
  • 2 ounces grapefruit juice
  • 1 tbsp grenadine syrup
  • 1/2 ounce triple sec
  • Ice

Pour all ingredients into blender and serve in your best margarita glass!
